Starting in May of 2014, I joined the Experiential Marketing Department at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium in Columbus, Ohio. I create experiences for Zoo guests beyond a general admission ticket. These events include fundraiser events, donor functions, and other exciting events that draw millions of people every year. The funding from these events contributes to the conservation efforts behind our mission.

This new chapter in my life has already allowed me to grow as a professional in the event planning world. I hope to continue to share my experiences on this blog!

LeakyCon is a fan conference. We come from the Harry Potter fandom and celebrate everything about it, and everything about the pop culture fandoms our community is growing to include. LeakyCon is a place where fans can, finally, be their true selves. Where that’s the coolest thing in the world to be.

LeakyCon started in 2009 with just a few hundred guests. By 2013, the conference expanded to having over 5000 attendees from all over the world. At LeakyCon, guests can interact with others who share similar interests. This conference lets geeks feel like rock stars as they experience educational sessions, networking opportunities, and entertainment from celebrities with the fandom. I have been in many different areas of the LeakyCon team. In 2012, I worked on the Press team, communicating with press outlets in the Chicago area and assisting with interviews throughout the conference. For LeakyCon 2013, I worked on the Logistics team, and planned a Guinness World Record attempt for the Largest Gathering of People Wearing False Moustaches.
